Six rolls sit in two neat rows on a round plate, all turned to face the front. Each one has a rice outside dotted with sesame seeds, and inside you can see a rectangular block, a curved crescent, and a pair of thin strips. A small sprig of pointed leaves sits above them, with a ruffle of ginger and a swirl of wasabi below.

The california roll is the inside-out one, rice on the outside and seaweed hidden within, usually holding crab, avocado, and cucumber. It is the roll most people start with. Our sushi coloring pages also have a close-up uramaki and a dragon roll if this style is the favorite.

We rate this printable coloring page as medium and good for ages 7 and up. Plan for about half an hour to an hour. The sesame seeds ringing each roll are small, so a sharp pencil handles them better than a marker tip. Younger kids can color the plate and the fillings and skip the seeds.
