How to color Carpenter Bee Portrait (with suggested palette)
Colors that work well together — tap any swatch to copy its hex.
Color the log first, laying a base brown over the whole thing and then working the grain lines darker on top. Do the bee's abdomen and furry thorax next, then the legs. Leave the four wings until last and keep them pale. Tap any color below to copy its HEX code.
Additional Coloring Tips
1Wood grain
Follow each grain line along its curve with a darker brown, straight strokes across the log kill the effect.
2Bored hole
Fill the round hole almost black and darken the rim just below it so it reads as depth, not a circle.
3Furry thorax
Stroke outward along the drawn hairs instead of filling flat, the direction is what makes the fuzz work.
