Fun things to do with your Rocket coloring pages

Build a launchpad diorama

Draw a rocket and an astronaut on a piece of paper. Then, cut them out and stand them up inside a shoebox that you have painted with stars and planets. Use glue to attach cotton balls to the rocket so that it looks like it's about to take off.

Design your own mission patch

Each astronaut crew designs a round patch for their mission. Color one of the rockets, then draw your own patch around it on a paper plate. Name your spacecraft, your crew, and where you're heading.

Create rocket trading cards

Print on thick paper and color each rocket. Then, write the rocket's height in meters, top speed, year of first launch, and which moon or planet it can reach on the back. Trade them with friends to build the strongest fleet.

Hang a rocket launch mobile

Color and cut out several rockets. Then tie each one with thread to a wire hanger or a stick. Hang it above a bed or in a classroom corner so the rockets twist and turn like they're drifting through zero gravity.

Run a classroom countdown to launch day

Print one rocket per day for ten school days and have kids color a new one each morning. Start with ten, then nine, eight, and so on, working down to one. The final page is posted on launch day, along with a class chant and a paper-rocket flight across the room.

Make rocket bookmarks

Use colored paper and a pair of scissors to cut out a tall, narrow rocket. Then, attach it to the edge of a folded piece of cardstock using tape. Put it in a chapter book so that the rocket is visible at the top of the page, as if it's about to take off.

Throw a rocket party

Decorate the wall with colorful rockets as banners, place astronaut cutouts on the snack table as placeholders, and transform the cake-and-candles moment into a "T-minus" countdown that ends with a collective yell of "liftoff."

Write a space-mission story

Color a rocket, name it, and write a short mission report on the back. In your report, describe where the rocket is going, who is on board, what they packed, and what they discovered when they arrived. Read the reports aloud as crew briefings before bedtime.
